Sunnyfield is a large not-for-profit organisation with a Person Centred approach to providing services to people with disabilities. We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Payroll Manager to join our Finance team in Allambie Heights.


The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for:

  • Quality, accuracy and timeliness of all payroll functions including auditing processes.
  • Detailed knowledge of Sunnyfield's Awards and Group Homes Enterprise Agreement.
  • Reviewing and maintaining quality of output
  • Ensuring that mandated increases in Award rates are applied and processed correctly and on time.
  • Continuous process improvement for Payroll & Rostering including stakeholder engagement.
  • Providing advice and input on all aspects of salary packaging.
  • Providing advice and calculations for all types of terminations including redundancies.
  • Responding to employee/manager queries, investigating and following up where appropriate.
  • Providing reporting service to assist managers in managing their area of accountability. Working closely with Human Resources across all areas of personnel and remuneration administration as required.
  • Manage external stakeholders including Centrelink, ATO, Child Support Agency, super funds.
  • Responsible for meeting legislative requirements and obligations for PAYG, superannuation and other payroll creditors


Ideally candidates will have:

  • Previous experience using Chris21, MicroPay, Tmetec or Riteq
  • Minimum of 5 years' senior payroll experience
  • Previous experience in processing large payrolls on a weekly basis
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining payroll and time & attendance data
  • Experience preparing documents and reports
  • Experience interpreting awards and agreements
  • Experience working with employees at various levels
  • Proven experience entering data with a high level of accuracy
  • Sound problem solving ability, and process improvement skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact and discretion when dealing with people.
  • Ability to prioritise work deadlines and work accurately under conflicting time pressures.
  • Report writing skills in Chris 21 essential.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulae)
