Casual roles working in respite services across Western Sydney

Sunnyfield is looking for proactive, energetic individuals to work in our respite services, supporting people with a disability to achieve their goals, develop their skills and independence, and be active in their own lives.

We have several positions, working hours include:

  • Monday to Friday before & after school hours
  • Must be able to work short shifts or consecutive shifts
  • Availability on the weekend

Purpose of role:

The role of the Community Support Worker is to actively support and promote the independence of our clients by providing quality services using a person centered approach that focuses on developing their potential to participate actively within the community and their home.

This role involves working mostly 1 on 1, supporting clients in their own homes or in the community.

Duties of the role involve assisting clients to:

  • Achieve their personal goals and increase their independence through support and participation in decision making,
  • Be involved in activities through active support in all different types of settings,
  • Develop and maintain community and family relationships,
  • Access and be a part of their community by assisting with transportation to various community settings,
  • Maintain a healthy life, through assisting with personal care needs (i.e. mealtime, toileting, personal hygiene) and maintaining and adhering to relevant documentation and plans to assist with this support

Successful applicants must have:

  • A positive attitude towards working with people with a disability
  • Driver's Licence
  • Own car with comprehensive insurance
  • Working With Children Check
  • Willingness to work various shifts (between 2-12 hrs)

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Ability to take initiative, manage own time and work independently,
  • Excellent written English skills and ability to type,
  • Experience and ability to use standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs,
  • Disability experience or knowledge preferred.
