Sunnyfield is looking for proactive, energetic individuals to work in our Group Homes in the ACT on a Permanent Part-time basis (50hours per fortnight), supporting people with a disability to achieve their goals and dreams, develop their skills and be active in their own lives. Locations are Petterd House in Page and Bindel House in Aranda ACT.

 Purpose of role:

 The role of the Community Support Worker is to actively support and promote the independence of our female clients by providing quality services using a person centered approach that focuses on developing their potential to participate actively within the community and their home. This role involves working in group settings as well as in isolation providing one to one support in the Community. It is a role that requires someone with the energy, values and flexibility to provide the best quality support to Sunnyfield's clients.

 

Duties of the role:

  • Assist our clients to be involved in activities through active support in all different types of settings,
  • Assist our clients to achieve their personal goals and increase their independence through support and participation in decision making,
  • Assist our clients with their personal care needs as required i.e. mealtime, toileting personal hygiene and medication,
  • Transportation of our clients to community activities, facilities and events,
  • Encourage, support and assist our clients to develop and maintain community and family relationships,
  • Become familiar with the individual wants and needs of our clients to provide the best possible service with the available resources,
  • Demonstrate adherence to all plans that are developed to provide support for health care, communication, meal time and any areas that require specific support plans,
  • Writing daily progress notes for clients and keeping records, general files and all relevant documentation up to date.

Successful applicants must have:

  • First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Driver's Licence
  • Working With Vulnerable People Check
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability or willingness to obtain 
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or in health services beneficial but not essential.

Knowledge and skills: 

  • Broad knowledge of services for people with disabilities,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Well-developed time management skills within competing priorities,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member,
  • Exhibit a personal commitment to service, integrity and professional development,
  • Demonstrated experience in using standard computer applications
